To learn cost of living in Ukraine and Russia is important step for all foreign students. Ukraine is one of the cheapest European country that makes it one of the best option for studying abroad in Europe.
Money and currency
National currency in Ukraine is Hryvnia. 1 USD = 27 Hryvnia.
National currency in Russia is Rubel $1 = 63 rubles.
ACCOMMODATION
All our universities have their own hostels. International students can live there. Price for room in hostel will be from $ 40 USD to $ 100 USD. In lot of cases you’ll live there with 1 or 2 roommates.
Some students prefer to rent a flat. In some cases, if they rent flat for few peoples, it can be more profitable.
Price for renting depends on a city. In Moscow 1 room apartment will cost you not less than 500 USD per month, in any other city in Russia you can find apartment at the same condition for 200-300 USD, in Ukraine for 150-200 USD per month. 3 rooms flat in Ukraine will cost you $ 400 USD and more. You can rent it for several people and split the bill. The cost of an apartment depends on the state of repair of the apartment and furniture.
TRANSPORTATION
Also important item of expenditure. Usually, if you live in a university’s hostel, it is located close and you do not need to use transport to reach for study. However, you still want to go to another part of the city, to go to have fun or travel around the country.
Transportation is also very cheap.
One-way ticket in local transport (bus, tram, subway, trolley-bus, etc) will cost you $ 0.2 USD – $ 0.4 USD.
Taxi will cost you $ 2 – $ 3 USD
FOOD
Ukraine is agrarian country with a lot of cooking traditions. Be sure, if you want, you’ll learn a lot of interesting and tasty recipes. Here, people rarely order pizza and fast food at home. Usually, they buy products on the market or in stores and cook it at home themselves. We encourage students to do the same, it is very economical and satisfying.

You can also go to canteen or order mess, it will cost you 2-3 dollars for 1 diner.
CLOTHING AND OUTFITS
There are plenty of chain stores of popular brands, both international and local.

- Summer dress starts from $ 15 USD.
- Pair of shoes starts from $ 20 USD.
- Shirts cost 5-15$US,
- T-Shirts cost 5-12US$
TECHNOLOGY
Communications are the main source for technology in Russia and your cost of living in Russia must include a few budget items in this area. Generally, mobile phones, Internet access and cable TV are the main items you will have to acquire.
Mobile phones are often a package that includes the phone and the service. Overall, you’ll find cell service to be cheap.
USB/Wifi internet (unlimited) – $4 per month
Mobile package – $2 per month (includes 5 GB Data, 1000 local minutes, 600 texts)
TOTAL COST OF LIVING IN UKRAINE PER MONTH
Of course, we all know that the cost of living depends on the person.
Someone lives modestly and almost does not spend money on entertainment, and somebody always goes to the most fashionable boutiques and parties.
So, You can feel comfortable, spending $ 150 -200 per month (including rent room at the hostel).
If you can afford to spend $ 500 per month, you can live in a great apartment, buying different things and often fun.
